The following tables identify the location of different types of files that CliniClue installs and uses when it is running. Many of these locations are configurable so the table and some depend on Windows operating system configuration settings.
| Location name | Usage | Default Location |
|---|---|---|
| CliniClueProg |
The folder in which the CliniClue Xplore application is installed when the setup program is first run. The executable programs are installed in this folder. Built-in folder (see subsequent table) are sub-folders of this folder and contain files installed with and required by the programs. The location of this folder is determined on installation and can only be changed by uninstalling CliniClue Xplore (and any CliniClue add-on applications) and the reinstalling in a different location. |
A sub-folder of the Program Files application folder as specified by Windows. [Program Files]\cic\CliniClue 2009 In standard English language Windows installation this is: C:\Program Files\cic\CliniClue 2009 These folders may be hidden from view in Windows Explorer depending on your system settings. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, the content of these folders may be supplemented by files in a use specific 'virtual folder' specific to individual user: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\cic\CliniClue. |
| CicSharedProg |
Shared third party library files used by more than one CIC Ltd application are installed in this folder. These files are always installed in this folder. The installation path selection does not override this. |
A sub-folder of the Program Files application folder as specified by Windows. [Program Files]\cic\shared |
| CliniClueLocal |
The default folder in which CliniClue Xplore stores information that is used and amended by using CliniClue software. The location of this folder is determined on installation and stored as simple plain text in [CliniClueProg]\settings.txt. Defaults to:
|
A sub-folder of the Common Documents folder specified by Windows. [CommonDocuments]\CliniClue The location of this folder differs according to the version of
the Windows operating system. For example, for English language
installations of the following versions of Windows:
|
| ClueData |
One or more ClueData folders may be specified. CliniClue Xplore will search these folder for sub-folders containing SNOMED CT content in the ClueData2009 format. The ClueData folder:
A single ClueData root folder is created on installation. Alternative ClueData location can be specified if required using the 'Edition Selection' program. This allows ClueData to be placed on a disk drive with adequate disk capacity. All the Editions that depend on the same release of the International Edition must be in the same ClueData folder. It is possible to specify a ClueData folder on a shared network drive. However, as the final part of the pathname must be 'ClueData', either the share-name must be ClueData or the shared location must contain a ClueData sub-folder. Also note that CliniClue will perform less well using a network drive for ClueData. |
The default ClueData folder is created as a sub-folder of the CliniClueLocal folder (see above). [CliniClueLocal]\ClueData For example:
|
| CliniClueSettings | A folder in which CliniClue Xplore configuration settings are
stored and maintained. Local settings files are stored in this folder. These local settings include the CliniCluePath.xml file which specifies the location of other folders. By default, temporary files and many local customizations are stored in sub-folders of this folder. The location of this folder is determined automatically on installation and cannot be changed. However, the locations of some local customization sub-folders and files may be changed by amending the [Settings]\CliniCluePath.xml file. |
The Settings sub-folder of the CliniClueLocal folder specified as above. [CliniClueLocal]\settings For example:
|
| CliniClueTemp |
A folder in which CliniClue stores temporary files. Unless CliniClue Xplore is running (or being installed or configured), the files in this folder and any of its sub-folders can be deleted without loss of functionality. The location of this folder and its individual sub-folders can be modified by amending the [CliniClueSettings]\CliniCluePath.xml file. |
The default CliniClueTemp folder is created as a sub-folder of the CliniClueLocal folder (see above). [CliniClueLocal]\temp For example:
|
| CliniClueDoc | A folder that contains sub-folders containing documents, imports and exports that are readily accessible to users. |
The default CliniClueDoc folder is created as a sub-folder of either the Windows Public (All Users) Documents folder or in the current user's Documents folder. By default the Windows Public Documents folder is used. The current user's Documents folder is used if a user does not have read and write permission in the Public folder. The location of the CliniClueDoc folder is fixed. However, the location of each of its sub-folders can be changed by amending the [CliniClueSetttings]\CliniCluePath.xml file. In a standard English installation of Windows the full default
path depends on the operating system:
|
| Folder name | Usage | Location |
|---|---|---|
| addon |
Contains add-on products. Empty in the CliniClue Xplore freeware release. |
All these folders are immediate sub-folders of the CliniClueProg folder described as above. The location of these folder cannot be changed. The content of the files in these folders should not be changed. These files may be deleted or overwritten by software updates. The sub-folder name is the same as shown in the first column of the table. For example the help folder is:
In a standard English installation of Windows the full path is:
|
| configuration | Contains files related to language configuration. | |
| help | Contains help files and other available documentation. | |
| image | Contains images used in toolbars and lists. | |
| schema | Contains XML Schema files (xsd). | |
| xslt | Contains XSLT transform files required by CliniClue Xplore to manipulate XML files and objects. | |
| template |
Contains sub-folders that contain built-in layouts, constraints, etc. These files are also used as templates or starters for various setting and configuration files described in the next table. |
| Folder name | Usage | Location |
|---|---|---|
| constraint | Contains constraints used to limit searches, to organise the results of search and to control the attributes and values available for post-coordination. | There are two distinct instances of each of these folders (and their sub-folders) on a system:
The sub-folder name is the same as shown in the first column of the table. For example the built-in
[layout] folder is:
In a default English installation of Windows the full path is:
The default location of the local [layout] folder is:
In a standard English installation of Windows the full
default path depends on the operating system:
|
| layout | Contains files that specify:
|
|
| <other-settings> |
Other settings sub-folders may exist in some CliniClue versions. These follow the same naming conventions. |
|
| addon | Optional folders which, if they exist, contain local copies or variants of files in the built-in folders with the same names. |
The local folder locations follow the conventions described earlier in this table. The default location of the local [xslt] folder is:
The fixed locations of the built-in versions of these files does not follow the convention specified in this table. Instead (as noted in the table of built-in folder) these are immediate sub-folders of [CliniClueProg]. |
| help | ||
| image | ||
| xslt | ||
| resource |
Contains database files used by CliniClue Xplore to support CrossMap and Comment views. CliniClue Xtra enhancements may place other database files in this folder. The built-in resource folder included in the installation contains:
|
The built-in location follows the convention described earlier in this table and only contains a starter or empty database. The active databases are in the local folder. By default the location
of this is as a sub-folder of [CliniClueLocal].
The fixed locations of the built-in versions of these files does not follow the convention specified in this table. Instead (as noted in the table of built-in folder) these are immediate sub-folders of [CliniClueProg]. The location of these folders can be changed by amending the [CliniClueSettings]\CliniCluePath.xml file. In a standard English installation of Windows the full default path
depends on the operating system:
|
| Folder name | Usage | Location |
|---|---|---|
| document |
Contains files generated by CliniClue Xplore options that save files for later viewing. For example, this is the default location of files created using the CliniClue Xplore menu option 'Edit' 'Save list as HTML file'. |
These folders are located in the CliniClue sub-folder of either the Windows Public (All Users) Documents folder or in the current user's Documents folder. By default the Windows Public Documents folder is used. The current user's Documents folder is used if a user does not have read and write permission in the Public folder. The sub-folder name is the same as shown in the first column of the table. The location of these folders can be changed by amending the [CliniClueSettings]\CliniCluePath.xml file. For
example the default location of the [export] folder is:
In a default English installation of Windows the full path is:
In a standard English installation of Windows the full default
path depends on the operating system:
|
| export |
Contains files exported by CliniClue Xplore or add-on applications. These files differ from those in the document folder (see above) in that they are intended for processing or communicating rather than viewing or editing as a document. |
|
| import |
Contains files that to be imported by CliniClue Xplore. This folder is only used for add-on functions that allow importing. It is not used by CliniClue Xplore Online Update for routine updates of software and ClueData. |
| Folder name | Usage | Location |
|---|---|---|
| download |
Contains downloaded archive files containing ClueData and other relevant materials. This folder is used by CliniClue Online Update. |
All these folders are immediate sub-folders of the CliniClueTemp folder described as above. The location of these folder can be changed by amending the [CliniClueSetttings]\CliniCluePath.xml file. The sub-folder name is the same as shown in the first column of the table. For example the [download] folder is:
In a standard English installation of Windows the full path is:
|
| log | Contains log files created during the use of CliniClue Xplore (or a CliniClue add-on program). These files may be useful for troubleshooting if problems occur with CliniClue Xplore. | |
| session | Contains files that represent CliniClue Server sessions. A session represents access to specific SNOMED CT Edition in ClueData format from one or more CliniClue related programs. | |
| setup | Contains downloaded updates of CliniClue software as executable setup files. This folder is used by CliniClue Online Update. | |
| temp | Contains various other temporary files created when CliniClue Xplore (or a CliniClue add-on program) is run. |
