The table below is the list of known open issues in the current CliniClue Xplore release (2009-12-11) as reported up to 2009-12-19.

The scheduled date for the next update which will address most of these issues is 2009-12-28.

Gaps in issue numbers related to resolved items in the previous issue list (2009-11-28).

Table 1. Issue table
Ref Name Notes Status
1 Copy, Paste, Drag and drop.

Further elaboration of reported issues with plain text cut and paste from selection window.

Current release has only limited support for copy/paste using the Edit menu option.

Planned resolution: Basic text and html copy/paste options will be available from drop-down menus in the three main list views in the next software update 2009-12-28

Future enhancement: Configurable copy/paste options will be available as part of CliniClue Xtra but will not be available in the freeware version of CliniClue Xplore.

Development version text paste OK. Html and XML under being tested.
7 Layout management

Still under development - migration from old approach to new this has various effects. Initial solution will be to disable confusing options. In particular issue have been raised about the dialog for Layout Save and Load which has yet to be upgraded.

Note: Full layout control will only be available as part of the subscription CliniClue Xtra package. CliniClue Xplore now has toolbar control of primary layout issues.

Planned resolution: Layout edit options not supported in Xplore will be removed in 2009-12-28 release to simplify.

Development version OK
10 Search Frame filter prompts not translated

Part of the problem here is due to incomplete implementation of the Search Filter button options. The other (related) issue is the lack of locked tag keys for the translation. In practice the UI translation exposes this issue not only in French but also in the English version.

Planned resolution: This needs to be addressed but may initially be worked round by suppressing the unsupported filter button options. Not planned for early resolution.

Pending
13 Expression transform tool

Current release does not fully support comparison of post-coordinated expressions and does not handle context wrapper.

Planned resolution: To be addressed in for 2009-01-18 update.

Pending
14 Xplore tool bar for Inactive concept not working correctly

Not currently affecting results in search view.

This setting is working correctly in other views (hierarchy and details)

Planned resolution: This will be corrected in the next software update.

Progress: 2009-12-19 fixed in development version. Related to stored/optimised search parameters not being updated.

Development version OK
15 Search constraint text clearing

Deleting the text in the constraint box manually does not clear the constraint.

Work round: Clicking the toolbar remove filters button correctly clears the constraint.

Planned resolution: This anomaly will be corrected in the next software update.

Progress: 2009-12-19 fixed in development version. Blank or invalid constraint is not treated the same as no constraint.

Development version OK
16 Installation of CliniClue Xplore in a folder other than default location causing errors

Two errors have been noted here: failure to located ClueData files correctly, failure to locate XML CliniClue Property editor files (XCP). The probably have a common cause and we are working to isolate and correct it. However, in the meantime please use the default folder for installation.

Work round: Uninstall CliniClue Xplore. The reinstall it in the default folder.

Planned resolution: We recognize people may wish to install in other locations and we are looking for the cause and solution of this anomalous behavior. Intention is to fix in next release.

Progress: 2009-12-24 further testing of alternative locations has delayed the release planned for today until 2009-12-28.

Development version being tested.
17 CrossMap database is empty and not accessible from Online Update

No CrossMaps are visible and CrossMap database is not visible in Online Update and if downloaded from website using the posted instructions does not correct this issue.

Status: The distributed CrossMap database with the installation is purposely empty. A populated database is similar in size to the ClueData for the International Edition. Including this in the setup would multiply the setup file by 10 and for many be people would not offer immediate value. Until the Online Update service is updated to provide for interactive checking/acceptance of third party licensing conditions (see Enhancement E03) we cannot post this data in that way. The posting on our website with reference to NHS licensing conditions was accepted by the NHS as an appropriate way to handle the IP issues. The installation instructions on the web page while correct for CliniClue 2006 are incorrect for CliniClue Xplore.

Planned resolution: An updated mapping file will be posted on the web site on or before 2009-01-04. Manual instructions for locating this are more difficult to give as the expected location of the file depends on aspects of system security and configuration. Therefore, at the same time an update to the 'Online Update' will (using the 'Import from file' tab) import from the posted file to the correct location for CliniClue Xplore.

Future enhancement: Once the software updates E03 (see below) is completed these downloads will be supported directly in Online Update (planned for mid January)

Additional functionality: Organisations wishing to build maps other than those that we post for download will be able to do this if they acquire a CliniClue Xtend license. It is possible that CliniClue Xtra may also provide a personal import service for maps (to be decided).

18 Issue with MRCM Editor installation

Installing MRCM Prototype Editor from Online Update causes toolbar icons in CliniClue Xplore to disappear. This is caused by the automated installation from Online Update which incorrectly installs MRCM Editor Prototype in the same folder as CliniClue Xplore.

Work round: Uninstall MRCM Prototype Editor. Reinstall CliniClue Xplore in its default folder. If you require the MRCM Editor in the next few days download it setup then run the setup manually - take default installation folder which should NOT be the same as the CliniClue Xplore folder.

Planned resolution: Planned enhancements to Online Update (see E03 below) will include a correction to this issue.

Progress: 2009-12-24 further testing of alternative locations has delayed the release planned for today until 2009-12-28.

19 Two character key searches failing in some circumstances

When some two character keys (e.g. 'MI' and 'DM') are typed no search results are found. Typing three characters results in matches. If the third character is a stop ('.') the result is just two letter words or abbreviations. If the character is a space the search is for words starting with the two character key. If two characters are typed and typing pauses then typing a space does not return and results even though without a pause the same key returns matches.

The issue relates to the algorithm for pausing searches where a large number of matches are likely (two character keys are always treated as potential large matches). In the circumstances noted above the pause becomes interminable due to a bug.

Planned resolution: This anomaly will be corrected in the next software update.

Progress: 2009-12-19 fixed in development version.

Development version OK

Requested enhancements

Table 2. Proposal for enhancements
Ref Name Notes Status
E01 Multi-language view Make it possible to view multiple languages in the details window without requiring a customised combined build. Currently only one Edition can be open at once. This allows the English dialects and one other language to be viewed. It would be useful to allow the language data in multiple Editions to be viewed

Planned enhancement: This facility will be included in a next software release (2009-12-28) or the one after than (provisional date 2009-01-04).

Progress: 2009-12-19 multi-language enhancement is now working in development version. Requires some UI/configuration modifications to make multiple languages selectable for this option to be applied selectively.

Development version demo working. UI scheme selection update to support this underdevelopment.
E02 Option for expanding hierarchy of definition values.

This was present in CliniClue 2006 and purposely removed in CliniClue Xplore as the definition refers to a specific value. The hierarchy is relevant when refining (and the refine window allows searches constrained to hierarchy.

Planned enhancement: Layout edit options in the CliniClue Xtra add-on package may support this. However, depending on other feedback we do not intend to make the expandable view the default. Instead to allow the hierarchy to explored from a value (or from an attribute) a sub-window will be added (like the search frame for refinement) when a value is double clicked this will show the hierarchy and/or details of the value or attribute concept. Planned for 2009-01-04 update (may be delayed until 2009-01-18 update).

Development changes to enable completed. Needs further revision before making configuration accessible.
E03 Online Update

Detailed suggestions have been made by two user for simplification of the user-interface.

Planned enhancement: Some of these changes will be made (probably for the mid January 2010 release but possibly earlier). These will be combined with other enhancements to the Online Update.

a) improved screen handling to minimize Online Update during download. (scheduled for 2009-12-28)

b) tidy interface and split the 'Update from file' to separate application to reduce reported confusion.

c) further general enhancement to folder targets for update (scheduled for 2010-01-04)

d) provide relevant license information and acceptance prompts when files in the list are selected for download (scheduled for 2010-01-04 update)

e) list view selective based on installed licenses (scheduled for 2010-01-18).

Under development.
